Future gazing with…Yazaki the global vehicle power and data solution company
“While working with Yazaki on wiring systems and connector concepts in 2000, the introduction and intergration of flat wiring systems by design have helped reduce the weight of each car, by up to thirty per cent.”

Patent writing and research was undertaken to design a new wiring loom for use with smart in-car electronics.
Solutions were identified for the introduction of flat wiring technology. The forecasting and gap analysis for in-car entertainment and controls, led to the integration of old and new wiring technology.

Models determined
the relationship of stress and strain.
Standard prismatic models using parametric dimensioning helped decipher crucial mechanical floors. i.e. cyclical loading of clips, clasps, catches and switches, as shown here in a colour coded model (above).
Design development and engineering included recycling, weather proofing, maintenance and safety were built on to achieve world automotive standards.
Design for life cycle, manufacture and production :
For these projects engineering for mass manufacture, production and development was used. High pressure injection mould tools were designed for housing pressed parts in sealed casings.
Component change and any "Knock on Effects" were managed using FMEA (Failure Mode Element Analysis).
Designs were taken up by world leaders in the automotive industry, e.g. Mercedes and Jaguar.
