Strix - Energy Regulator
(Cooker thermostat) - Component Engineering

Energy Regulator - March 1994 with a production of 10,000,000 for 70% of the European market.
Energy Regulator:
Component design and production line development for:
Fulcrum Pivot - structural and mechanical pivot
Bi Metal Switch - thermal automated switch
Leaf Spring - perpendicular switching spring
Housing - glass filled thermo plastic
Spindle - ergonomic cam follower
Experience in pressed parts and injection moulding:
Design of double layered pressed sheet Bimetal:
Cut from spring steels Truflex the thermostat used as a component of cooker
energy regulators was designed using finite element analysis; thermal imaging
and F.M.E.A. (Failure Mode Element Analysis). Thousandth of a millimetre parametric/geometric
tolerancing was needed to achieve quality.
Laboratory tests and analysis for life cycle and ergonomics: other aspects of the switch were engineered for re-cycling, energy efficiency & the production line. Breakthroughs in the mechanical stability of thermoplastics at high temperatures ensured minimum environmental impact. Certain ergonomic factors were analysed using Sigma Six calculations.
Sheridan developed flat bed kettle heaters, using conductive ink as element, with company chairman John Taylor.
Strix : World leader in Bimetal manufacture.
